Mark Balla, Founder and Director of Community Engagement, "We Can't Wait" Charity

Mark Balla, Founder and Director of Community Engagement "We Can't Wait", is an inspiring man who is changing the lives of teenage girls in India.

A member of the Box Hill Central Rotary Club, he was moved to action following a visit to India and subsequently started a charity 'We Can't Wait".

We Can't Wait is a charity that aims to help teenage girls in developing countries stay in school longer. One of the major reasons that girls leave school in the developing world is that many schools in their countries to not have toilets. We Can't Wait's role is to raise awareness of this issue in the West. It is also to raise funds and then to direct these funds to appropriate sanitation projects in schools that are in need. The initial focus is on India and We Can't Wait's first projects are to be run in conjunction with local Rotary Clubs in India through Rotary networks in Australia and other Western countries.

Find out why Mark is called the Toilet Warrior at our meeting on Tuesday, 21st August at 12.30 @The Bendigo Club.
