About the Event
The Rotary Club of Bendigo will host Google’s Adrian Tout as guest speaker at it’s weekly meeting next Tuesday, February 9. The meetings are held at the Bendigo Club, Strathdale, at 1 pm sharp.
When, at 18, Adrian realized a pro-golf career wasn’t going to happen he began his career by completing a double-degree in the fields of Surveying Engineering and Computer Science from Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane - graduating in 1994.
After working as an engineer for almost 2 years he went to Canada to complete his Masters of Science Engineering where he focused on the emerging technology of GIS (geographic information systems) integrated with GPS (global positioning systems). Fast forward 10 years and this technology paved the way for applications like Garmin and TomTom.
In 1997 Adrian returned to Australia to help found (and lead) Australia's first digital mapping business - "WhereIS" - taking revenue from $0 to almost $100M over 10 years and it was with this experience that he was recruited by Google to lead their Google Maps business for the APAC region.
After a stint with Google in Singapore he then relocated to California to further develop this technology for commercial applications and now he leads global partnerships for Google Lens and Augmented Reality.
In his spare time Adrian writes a weekly macro economic blog which has ~10,000 subscribers (something he's done for 10 years) - after completing Post Graduate Studies in Finance in the year 2001, he also enjoys a round of golf (once competing in the Victorian Open) and is an avid runner.
Adrian will talk more about the next frontier of computing from Google's perspective... providing a couple of live demonstrations which you can do on your phones today.
