Footy Finals are here!! We had lots of colour at our meeting this week, a few sad faces and some happy ones! We had balloons, hats, scarves and a very interesting Guest Speaker Rowan Wharf who gave us an insight into being a professional football player. Rowan played for Fitzroy and the Sydney Swans. Now settled back in Bendigo, with 3 children he does a lot of work in junior football development. It was a very entertaining talk.
The Probus Club, who meet on a Tuesday morning, decided to stay for lunch, 46 of them, taking the kitchen by surprise so our dinners were delayed quite a bit, but we all got fed in the end—I hope. Thank-you everyone for your patience.
Mike & I went along with Peter Hyett & Marlene to the Rotary Club of Echuca Moama on Tuesday night to help celebrate their 70th Anniversary. The Rotary Club of Bendigo sponsored them all those years ago. The Rotary Club of Bendigo Strathdale celebrate their 40th Anniversary in October, again sponsored by our Club.
Next week is a Club Fellowship day, when we hear from Kaye Lehmann, giving her “getting to know you” talk . We will also hear from our outgoing Exchange Student Annabelle Kingston-Brown who will be leaving for Switzerland in January.
It is also “ Hat Day” promoting Australian Rotary Health Lift the Lid Campaign on Mental Illness. So, wear a hat on Tuesday.
Don’t forget to grab your Movie ticket for Bohemian Rhapsody from Julie. $20/ticket, $10 going to “End Polio Now” campaign.
Also plan your feasting at our Market on Friday October 26th 4-8pm. Lots of food trucks with yummy food. A Fellowship Night with a difference----there will also be wine, we have a license! What more is needed? Food ,wine and fellowship, with shopping thrown in!!
