This week we heard from Past DG Gordon McKern OAM about the great plans afoot for BMDI Rotary House in North Melbourne. It is a facility that provides temporary apartments for rural and interstate families who have to travel to Melbourne to access specialist cancer treatment. It keeps families together during the toughest battle of their lives. Unfortunately, BMDI Rotary House is at capacity, with a waiting list and a big fundraising drive is on to either expand Blackwood Street or build a brand new facility near the Royal Children’s. Our DG Bronwyn has committed, on behalf of all D9800 Clubs to raise $2M during 18/19, extending into 19/20 if necessary. This is where we come in! At our Fellowship meeting on Oct 2nd, we are going to discuss how we make a contribution. Fundraise, Donation or a mixture of both. So put your thinking caps on!
Next week our meeting is in the evening. Its our Spanish Night, to welcome Pol from Barcelona. A partners meeting that is a joint meeting with RC Bendigo South. You don’t have to wear fancy dress---------not if you don’t want to!
The following week, it is Football Finals again! Rowan Wharf is coming to speak to us. Rowan played for Sydney Swans and Fitzroy Football Clubs in the AFL. Everyone come with footy scarves or beanies of your favourite team. I know Melbourne supporters will have to dust them off!!---but maybe this is the year!
Red Hot off the Press-------Bohemian Rhapsody the new film about Queen is out on Thursday 1st Nov. There will be tickets!! All money raised going to Polio Plus. Make a note in your calendar.
